Mario show and tell, flip flops, and some shopping

The month of May is "Animal" month at school. How excited are we about that?! Upon learning the theme for this month, I decided we must do some extra-credit. It's animals, how easy will that be to go above and beyond these next few weeks? First off, the babies brought in a picture of Mario, and we explained that their "big brother" was their absolute favorite animal. Their teachers got all excited and were so happy we brought a picture in. I felt they were probably just being nice to the "crazy dog lady"! Since I had lingered a little longer than normal that morning, Cam started getting sad. (Once I'm out of sight and gone the babies are totally fine and happy--the longer I hang around the more sad they get at drop off times.) Ms. Fran quickly showed her the Mario picture and she settled down a little bit. I sneaked out as she was pointing at Mario's picture telling her teacher "Bubby". So seems Cam was happy we brought a picture of Mario in too. Well, imagine my PRIDE AND JOY swelling inside me when I saw this on the door to go into their room when I picked them up that afternoon:
Guess they didn't think I was too crazy of a dog person?! It is so dear to me that Mario is front and center on the door going into their classroom--and he still was this morning when we went! Their teachers said they talked about Mario that day and incorporated him into some of their animal lessons. Proud Momma moment for all 3 of my babies. Today, in honor of animals, Cole and Cam brought in a couple stuffed animals. We were told we could bring in different types of animals we love and they'll be a part of some of their activities this month. So we brought in baby giraffe and baby penguin. These were stuffed animals we got at our last trip to the zoo. The babies were so proud bringing them into class this morning. As they sat at their table to have some breakfast at school, they propped their baby animals right up next to their plates and they liked when Ms. Fran got excited that they brought them to school.

Last week at school, Ms. Alyssa did Camryn's hair so cute. She also looked pretty adorable in her outfit that day so I tried to take some pictures. These were the best I could get...

Not wanting to be left out, Cole--of course, looked super cute too that day. Check out his cool shorts!
The next day, Cam had her signature "crazy hair" going on. I cracked up every time I looked at her! Eventually we went out in public and I had to tame her madness with her other signature hairdo: pigtails. (The same looking pigtails all the time--the only thing I know how to do with her hair--and I struggle at that even!) Oh my goodness, her crazy hair makes me smile and laugh!

So as we headed out, it was time to get our flip-flops on for the first time this year! We are big fans of Minnie and Mickey Mouse. And until they get to be about elementary school-age or so, I will love their cute feet. At that dreaded time, their once-adorable feet will likely fall into the "gross-me-out" category that EVERY pair of feet does to me, including my own. So we'll enjoy the cuteness while it lasts...

Here is little Miss Minnie Mouse--from head to toe, literally. She was in posing mode, finally. I guess when she's sporting all Minnie, it's worth it to her to take pictures.

So our big outing I keep leading up to was going to Starbucks, then Kohl's. Wow--exciting, right? Right. Well, it is for me--it was Power Hours afternoon at Kohl's! At Starbucks we all enjoyed some treats. Mine was my new favorite French Vanilla latte. Theirs were the previously mentioned individual big kid little milk boxes....and we all shared some yummy vanilla scones. ;)

We LOVE that Kohl's has a double cart. Not always easy to locate, but luckily the workers can usually track it down for me...the two times I've used it so far. As it would figure, anytime I've gone in there on my own without the babies, I immediately see it sitting up at the front. But what fun would that be when I have the two of them with me for it to be that easy, just sitting up there waiting for us to use? It's much more "fun" to walk across to both ends of the store looking for the double cart--then, when it's not on either end, tracking down a worker to find it for me--all the while trying to keep both babies holding my hands and staying with me. We've only had a stray-away once: Camryn bolted from me at our last trip there saying "Kaw-Kawk" "Kaw-Kawk" as she ran into the junior's section. We found her standing in front of a Jayhawk shirt on clearance pointing excitedly. How random is that?! Of course, even though 2 sizes too big, I had to get it. It's not often we see Jayhawk gear up here, let alone on clearance at a Kohl's.?? It'll make a great jammy shirt. Plus, I'm a pro at shrinking things over time in the laundry, so it'll be down to my size in no time as long as I continue to "keep it clean".

Here we are, all set and ready to shop in our cart made just for us!
We usually head straight back to the kid's section first. Kohl's has a pretty good book selection. We make sure to get two of the exact same book (we have serious sharing/jealousy over what the other has issues lately)--and that usually occupies the babies while I get to do some fun Kohl's browsing and shopping for a little bit. Cam gets in good reading times there--Cole gets in another "snack" time apparently.

Over the weekend, we all rode our bikes around the neighborhood and then over to our park and had lunch. Yes, as mentioned before, that means even I rode a bike. It had only been like two years. Needless to say, I napped while the babies napped that afternoon. But I'm excited to do it again, it was a good way to get my joints flowing better and different way to keep them from stiffening up on me, as they like to do lately. It was a fun, good feeling. Matt also continues to take the babies out on rides too. For this reason, it was super important we got helmets that fit them better. We found some awesome ones at Matt's new favorite bike shop in Westminster on the other side of the highway. One has fish and sea creatures on it and the other has dinosaurs all over it, and they both fit the babies perfectly. So even though we couldn't get the exact same ones, we got some cool ones that hopefully won't get fought over too much when it comes time to put them on.
It wasn't really our intention to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, but--shocker--we were craving the closest thing we can get to Tex-Mex here Saturday night, so off to On the Border we went. We ended up having a fun Cinco de Mayo dinner there, beads and all.
Matt continued celebrating by picking up some more of his super potent beer at one of our other favorite places: Applejacks liquor store. I can't remember the amount of alcohol in them, I'm really ignorant when it comes to beers, but they come in these big bottles and they all have crazy names. This one, called the "Double Wide" cracked me up--I can't really read it on the label now but it says something like--Don't worry, it won't knock down your double-wide. Classy. Matt found it very tasty.
One of Camryn's favorite things to do lately: Color. Well--her version of coloring, that is. We've found we really like the "Color Wonder" markers that only show up on "Color Wonder" paper. We usually go through 5 markers a week (the babies like to lose the lids so they dry out--and Cole also likes to bite off the tips of the markers???), but it's something new and fun that they (especially Cam) like, so it's worth it to keep Color Wonder markers and color books stocked up around here these days.
