We've started swim lessons! Proving still not to be scared of anything, the babies are taking to them quite well. We haven't gone underwater yet--and we're still working on the whole blowing bubbles and kicking our legs things, but they get in and splash and smile so I think so far so good. The only bummer is that water is FREEZING!!!! After bringing this issue up to the instructor, I was basically informed that the YMCA cares more about the lap swimmers (who will complain if the water is too warm) than little ones whose parents pay extra on top of their membership to do these lessons. I'm learning with this and other things lately that you get what you pay for I guess. Those who know me are probably rolling their eyes remembering how I had goose bumps on South Beach in Miami (hey--it was in December). And not to mention those who complain about the sweltering temperatures I keep in my house. But seriously, it's not just me this time. It's COLD!!! So cold in fact, that at our 2nd class Cam got kicked out of the pool because her lips turned blue. I'm not kidding. I wasn't too heartbroken to get out of the water with her and we observed the last 5 minutes of class bundled up in our towels. Several other babies shiver during the class and I notice huge goosebumps on other parents too. As if strutting around in what is probably a pee-infested area, in a swimsuit, isn't enough--As Jackie pointed out, "Ahh, the things we do for our kids"... But despite my annoying complaints, this experience is definitely full of more positive moments than negative (errrr cold) ones. This past week, we made it through the entire class in the pool. Cole was perfectly comfortable temperature-wise and only Cam's hands turned purple this time (the coldness hadn't reached her lips yet!) Plus we get to take everything we learn and practice it at Grandpa and Grandma Jackie's 90 DEGREE pool!!
Here we are before our first class. Cole is totally pumped to learn how to swim!
And here's our Mommy and Me swim class in action. We found out at the end we weren't supposed to have cameras and take pictures--so enjoy these few snapshots, you won't have the "pleasure" of seeing us anymore in our swimsuits in the kiddie pool...
All bundled up afterwards. My cute little elephant and lammikens.

So Cammy has really taken to this particular Tupperware bowl--as a "hat". Every day since I brought it out she puts it on her head. She brings it up to her mouth, bites the rim and holds down on it with her two bottom teeth to then flip it up on her head. It's a technique she's really aced. Once on successfully she goes about playing with it on her head for as long as 5 minutes sometimes. Goofball.

Looking all pretty out on one of our hundreds of walks. They are so incredibly happy outside and in that jogging stroller.

We LOVE Elmo lately. Which is awesome because I find him to be absolutely adorable. I'm seriously head over heels for that little monster. I hope they continue to like him even more because I find him to be so incredibly precious. When Camryn hears the Elmo's World song come on she will literally stop what she is doing and turn her head to watch the TV and smile, coo, giggle, kick her legs, etc. (Anyone peeping in our tiny kitchen windows may or may not have seen me reacting the same way sometimes.) Cole likes him too, but doesn't have quite the reaction Cam has yet. He saves his excitement for Mickey Mouse, but that's another post sometime soon. Here is an example of the love us girls in the house have for Elmo in the picture below. As you can see, I'm encouraging exemplary TV habits by letting her crawl up to get a front row seat to Elmo. Although she might also be wanting to be up front and close to have access to all the electronics buttons too...It's probably that. But I'm going to go with our loving Elmo thing for now.

We finally put a gate at the opening between the dining room--(I mean, their playroom!)--and the kitchen. If anyone even thinks about going into the kitchen, they speed crawl and beat you in there. Then they immediately start trying to pull themselves up to standing on the dishwasher, the oven, the refrigerator door--you know, all kinds of "safe" things.?? It would be a race between Cam and Mario who could get to the dishwasher fastest when I would load it. They would both perch up on the downed, open door of it with their arms/front paws and try to catch any remnant droplets of formula coming out of bottles above them. So gross, those two. Did I mention I feel like I live in a zoo/dog park sometimes? Based on this picture below, thanks to the gate (seriously, thank you gate!) the babies now feel like they live behind bars sometimes...
I realized a month too late that we're supposed to be trying our hands (literally) at some table foods. So we're now learning how to gum the mush off of frozen bagels. It's become a morning favorite this week. Our hand-to-mouth eating coordination isn't anything to write home about. But they did indeed learn to eat from a spoon quite well--which I had my doubts about--so I guess we'll eventually get this eating-on-our-own thing down too. I hope so. I really really really look forward to the day that they can feed themselves better. It will make the whole 2:1 ratio when eating WAY less crazy!
(Side note: Yes, that's Regis and Kelly in the background. Which probably means I'm on the other end of this camera rolling my eyes being totally annoyed at something dumb/clueless Regis has said--and drooling over Kelly Ripa's body and the shoes she's wearing that I could never imagine walking in, but love nonetheless.)
And just to emphasize her love for this "Tupperware hat". I was able to snap another picture of her daily wear of it while playing. Cole's face cracks me up too. As Jennifer pointed out, this is probably some of the first of many "OMG what are you doing crazy sister" expressions he will be giving her in life!
